Breeds

Their are many types of Guinea pig breeds out there. They are all wonderful pets however certain breeds will match better with certain people. The American Guinea pig can be found at just about any Pet store in America, they are short haired piggies that come in many different colors. They are easy to take care of when it comes to maintinance.

Their is also a real popular Guinea pig here in the states called a Abysinian, it has swirls in its coat. I call them cow licks, They are actually called Rosettes. They also are very easy to groom.

Another type of Guinea pig is the Peruvian, it grows very long hair. It reguires some grooming obviously. There hair can eventually cover there entire body including their face.

Another type is the Silkie, which also is a long hair Guinea pig. The difference in a Silkie and a Peruvian is  the hair on the Silkie does not cover the Face. They look like a puppy to me, not a Guinea pig.
